Vinted Shoppers Express Displeasure About Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Updates
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.
Manual Updates
A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
