Ten individuals found guilty of digital abuse targeting Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the wife of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of circulating untruths regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the couple's 24-year age gap.
The court issued suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the perpetrators. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A circulating conspiracy theory suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the United States against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced similar conspiracy theories about the French president's wife's gender.
Their lawsuit states that Owens brushed aside any factual proof disproving her claim opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has frequently reiterated these claims on her digital program and online platforms, and in March 2024 declared that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her now-husband when she taught at his lycée.
The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was 54.
