Her Royal Highness's Traditional Christmas Service of Carols Spotlights Community Volunteers

Her Royal Highness has organised her customary Yuletide celebration at the iconic London venue, with attendees featuring royals, celebrities and local heroes who have made a difference in their neighbourhoods.

The sizable congregation will hear a blend of carols, music and readings from stars like award-winning actors.

Focusing on Love and Generosity

The focus of the service, held in the atmospheric historic church on Friday, is compassion and demonstrating care for others.

Among the guests will be Jonathan and Anna Cordiner, whose child passed away from a brain tumour, and who founded an organisation, a charity called Kayleigh's Wee Stars, to aid parents with a youngster facing a life-limiting condition.

"The dedication, empathy, and kindness you show, often without fanfare or recognition, and without any hope for reward or acknowledgement, make an extraordinary difference to the well-being of people," wrote Catherine in a letter ahead of the carol service.

A Gradual Return

The princess has been making her own steady comeback to official duties after her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy, recently giving her first public speech for two years, in which she talked about recognising the "quiet, often invisible work of caring".

Musical Talent and Access

Guests arriving at the Abbey will enjoy performances from budding artists aided by the Future Talent organisation, co-founded by the former royal to increase availability of musical tuition.

Carys Wood, aged 18, who plays the trumpet and is from Wales, has been supported by the charity, with funding assisting with equipment, teaching, and travel fees - and she said it was "amazing" to be taking part in the concert.

"Pursuing music is often costly," she stated. She is now a student at the Royal Academy of Music, and added that "each individual ought to be given the possibility" to hone their artistic talents.

A Family Affair

Eliza, Carys's sister who is 11, who plays the euphonium, will be present at the Abbey. "I never thought I'd be able to play there in front of so many important people," she said.

Within the audience will be people from various age groups.

That will encompass Saphia Turner, aged nine, honouree of a young hero award, who creates and sells art and completes fundraising tasks to generate funds for local food charities.

Seasonal Ambiance and Entertainment

The Abbey has been festooned with custom-created holiday decorations, with celebrity baker Mary Berry and floral designer Simon Lycett helping to make them.

The musical lineup includes singer Katie Melua, the Abbey's own choir and a maritime folk band from Cornwall, the group Fisherman's Friends, who said the chance to take part was "the perfect culmination."

The Together at Christmas carol concert will be aired by a major network on Christmas Eve.
